Tower Princess

You can’t have a Tower Witch without a Tower Princess to guard! This poor girl has been cut off from the world for so long that her hair could be used as a climbing rope. Talk about high maintenance. If you haven’t made your own Tower Witch yet, check out that pattern here!

This pattern is between beginner and intermediate and takes at least 6 hours to complete. The finished doll is roughly 4 inches tall and should be able to stand on her own. Lastly, the pattern is written using United States crochet terms.

What You Need

• Yarn weight 4
  • Skin Tone (Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek, Ivory)
  • Purple (Caron Simply Soft, Grape
  • Yellow (Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek, Yellow)
  • Light Pink
  • Optional – Dark Grey for Frying Pan, Colors for Flowers
• 12mm safety eyes
• Crochet hook size 3.5mm
• Yarn Needle
• Scissors
• Stuffing
• Pins (optional but helpful for the hair)

Pattern

Head/Body

Using Cream Yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1: Inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2: *sc, inc* repeat x6 (18 sts)

R3: *sc 2, inc* repeat x6 (24 sts)

R4: *sc 3, inc* repeat x6 (30 sts)

R5: *sc 4, inc* repeat x6 (36 sts)

R6-9: sc in each sc (36 sts per round, 4 rounds)

R10: *sc 4, dec* repeat x6 (30 sts)

R11: *sc 3, dec* repeat x6 (24 sts)

R12: *sc 2, dec* repeat x6 (18 sts)

Place safety eyes. Begin stuffing

R13: *sc, dec* repeat x6 (12 sts)

R14: *sc 2, dec* repeat x3 (9 sts)

R15: sc in each sc (9 sts)

R16: sc in each sc (9 sts)

Switch to Purple Yarn

R17: sc in each sc (9 sts)

R18: sc in each sc (9 sts)

R19: *sc 2, inc* x3 (12 sts)

R20: *sc, inc* x6 (18 sts)

R21: sc in each sc (18 sts)

R22: *sc 2, inc* x6 (24 sts)

R23: sc in each sc (24 sts)

R24: *sc 3, inc* x6 (30 sts)

R25: sc in each sc (30 sts). Tie off

Body Base

Using Purple Yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1: inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2: *sc, inc* x6 (18 sts)

R3:*sc 2, inc* x6 (24 sts).

R4: *sc 3, inc* repeat x6 (30 sts)

Tie off leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the base to the bottom of the body on the inside of R25. Stuff to light firmness just before you close the opening. Pull the tail up through the center of the body to create a flat bottom

Hair

Using Yellow Yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1: Inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2: *sc, inc* repeat x6 (18 sts)

R3: *sc 2, inc* repeat x6 (24 sts)

R4: *sc 3, inc* repeat x6 (30 sts)

R5: *sc 4, inc* repeat x6 (36 sts)

R6-8: sc in each sc (36 sts per round, 3rounds)

R9: sc 12, hdc, dc 22, hdc

R10: sc 12, *sl st, ch 50, starting in second ch from hook sc to the end, skip one sc* repeat x12

R11: slip stitch 9, in next sc (ch 15, turn and starting in second ch from hook inc, inc, inc, hdc, dc, tc, tc, dtc, dtc, tc, tc, dc, dc, hdc), sc, sl st. Tie off without finishing the round. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew hair to the head with the front of the hair about 2 rounds above the eyes. Sew the end of the bangs (the little curl) on to the wig cap close to curl, but don’t pull it so far that the bangs don’t puff up. 

Arms (make 2)

Using Cream Yarn, ch 2, sc 4 into second ch from hook

R1-4: sc in each sc (4 sts per round)

Tie off leaving a tail for sewing. Sew an arm to either side of the body.

Sleeves (make 2)

Using Purple Yarn, ch 2, sc 4 into second ch from hook. Ch 1 and turn.

R1: Sc, inc, sc, inc (6 sts) Tie off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew the sleeve on top of the arm with R1 closer to the head. The corners of the half circle should be at her armpit.

Light Pink Yarn

Using Light Pink Yarn, create an x with a line under it on the front of the dress. Tie the ends together like a bow. I then put the ends through the doll and tied them in the back so the bow couldn’t come undone.

And now your Princess is complete! Below are the patterns for her accessories. Her hair is long enough to braid or leave down. Since is isn’t just loose yarn it will last longer being styled and played with.

Frying Pan

Using Dark Grey Yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1: Inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2: *sc, inc* repeat x6 (18 sts)

R3: In Front Loops Only, sc in each sc

R4: (The Handle) Ch 8, starting in 5th Ch from hook sc til the end. Slip stitch to R3. Tie off.

Flowers

There are hundreds of patterns for small flowers on the internet and I encourage you to look some up so you have variety and support other creators.

Ch 6. In first ch, slip stitch, ch 5, slip stitch. Repeat until you have 5 loops. Use longer chains for flowers with longer petals.
