With everybody stuck in quarantine right now I thought it would be appropriate to make the villain who is the queen of keeping people isolated. (Not the queen of isolation though, we all know that is Elsa)

This pattern is between beginner and intermediate and takes at least 4 hours to complete. The finished doll is roughly 4 inches tall and should be able to stand on her own. Lastly, the pattern is written using United States crochet terms.

What you need

  • Yarn weight 4
    • Skin Tone (Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek, Ivory)
    • Black (Caron One Pound, Black) – This is what I used but I don’t recommend. I prefer Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek, Black
    • Dark Red (Big Twist, Wine)
    • Grey (I Love This Yarn, Light Grey)
    • Gold (Caron Simply Soft, Honey)
  • 12mm safety eyes
  • Crochet hook size 3.5mm
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • Stuffing
  • Pins (optional but helpful for the hair)

Body Base

Using Dark Red Yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1: inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2: *sc, inc* x6 (18 sts)

R3:*sc 2, inc* x6 (24 sts). Tie off leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the base to the bottom of the body on the inside of R25. Stuff to light firmness just before you close the opening. Pull the tail up through the center of the body to create a flat bottom. Use Gold yarn to sew a simple stitch at the bottom of the dress of a fun accent. For mine I started in the back and along R25 of body I went over 2 stitches and under 1 stitch, then went up to R24 and went under 2 stitches and over 1 stitch.

Hair

Using Black yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1: Inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2: *sc, inc* repeat x6 (18 sts)

R3: *sc 2, inc* repeat x6 (24 sts)

R4: *sc 3, inc* repeat x6 (30 sts)

R5: *sc 4, inc* repeat x6 (36 sts)

R6: sc 9, hdc, dc 25, hdc (36 sts)

This is where the curls start

R7:

[ch 33, starting in second ch from hook *inc, sc* x16. Skip a sc.] x2

[Switch to Grey Yarn, ch 33, switch to black yarn, starting in second ch from hook *inc, sc* x16. Skip a sc.] x2

[ch 33, starting in second ch from hook *inc, sc* x16. Skip a sc.] x14

Tie off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Place your hair onto the head with the grey streaked curls in the middle of the front of the head. I pinned my hair down so it would not shift as I sewed it on. Once you sew around the circumference of the head you can even tack down a few of the curls so the hair stays more styled. She has a lot of curls and it can get pretty wild.

Arms

Using Cream Yarn, ch 2, sc 4 into second ch from hook

R1-4: sc into each sc (4 sts) Tie off.

Sleeves

Using Dark Red yarn, ch 5

R1: Starting in second ch from hook, sc, sc, hdc, dc. Ch 2, turn

R2: dc, hdc, sc, sc. Ch 1, turn

R3: sc, sc, hdc, dc. Ch 2, turn

R4: dc, hdc, sc, sc. Ch 1, turn

R5: sc, sc, hdc, dc. Ch 2, turn

R6: dc, hdc, sc, sc. Ch 1, turn

R7: slip stitch R6 and original ch together to make sleeve. Tie off leaving a tail for sewing.

Pull the arms inside of the sleeves and sew a sleeved arm to each side of the body.

Gold Chain

Using Gold yarn, ch 20, tie off. Sew the chain so it goes along the line between Cream and Dark Red on the front of the dress and then up over the sleeves. Secure in the back.

And there you have it! Your very own Witch. Hopefully she will keep you company during quarantine, but don’t let her near your hair!
