Grecian Beauty – FREE PATTERN

What you need

  • Yarn weight 4
    • Skin Tone (Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek, Cream)
    • Brown (I Love This Yarn, Brown)
    • Purple (Caron Simply Soft, Grape)
    • Bronze (Yarn Bee, Soft Secret, Honey)
  • 12mm safety eyes
  • Crochet hook size 3.5mm
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • Stuffing

Pattern

Head

In Skin Tone Yarn, Ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1 – inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2 – *sc, inc* x6 (18 sts)

R3 – *sc 2, inc* x6 (24 sts)

R4 – *sc 3, inc* x6 (30 sts)

R5 – *sc 4, inc* x6 (36 sts)

R6-8 – sc in each sc (36 sts per row)

R9 – *sc 4, dec* x6 (30 sts)

R10 – *sc 3, dec* x6 (24 sts)

R11 – *sc 2, dec* x6 (18 sts)

Insert safety eyes between R10 and R11, about 7 stitches apart. NOTE: you will want the eyes on the opposite side of the head from where the rows start. This way the color changes are not on the front of the doll.

 Begin stuffing head to medium firmness. Beware not to overstuff because this will elongate the head rather than leaving it in the nice oval shape.

R12 – *sc, dec* x6 (12 sts)

R13 – *sc 2, dec* x3 (9 sts)

Do not tie off. Continue to Body.

Body

R14 – sc in each sc (9 sts)

R15 – sc in each sc (9 sts) Switch to Purple Yarn

R16 –  sc in each sc (9 sts)

R17 –  sc in each sc (9 sts)

R18 – *sc 2, inc* x3 (12 sts)

R19 – *sc 3, inc* x3 (15 sts)

R20 – *sc 4, inc* x3 (18 sts)

R21-24 – sc in each sc (18 sts per row)

R25 – *sc 2, inc* x6 (24 sts)

R26 – *sc 3, inc* x6 (30 sts), slip stitch then tie off.

Body Base

In Purple Yarn, Ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1 – inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2 – *sc, inc* x6 (18 sts), slip stitch then tie off, leaving a tail for sewing

Arms (make 2)

In Skin Tone Yarn ch 2, sc 4 into second ch from hook

R1-3 – Sc in each sc

Tie off, leaving a tail for sewing

Sleeve

In Purple Yarn ch 16, turn, starting in second ch from hook sc to the end

Hair Cap

In Brown Yarn, Ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook

R1 – inc in each sc (12 sts)

R2 – *sc, inc* x6 (18 sts)

R3 – *sc 2, inc* x6 (24 sts)

R4 – *sc 3, inc* x6 (30 sts)

R5 – *sc 4, inc* x6 (36 sts)

R6-8 – sc in each sc (36 sts per row)

R9 starts by making the bangs

R9 – ch 15, turn and starting in second ch from hook inc, inc, inc, hdc, dc, tc (triple crochet), tc, dtc (double triple crochet), dtc, tc, tc, dc, dc, hdc. (You are now off the ch and working into R8) 3 sc, 22 hdc, 2 sc. Do not finish Round, slip stitch and tie off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ponytail

In Brown Yarn, ch 51, turn and starting in the second ch from the hook (inc using sc)x10, (inc using hdc)x10, (inc using dc)x10, (inc using tc)x15, (inc using dc)x2, (inc using hdc)x2, sc. Tie off leaving a tail for sewing.

Hair Band

In Bronze Yarn, ch 20, turn and starting in third ch from hook hdc to the end. Tie off and leave a tail for sewing

Medallions (make 2)

In Bronze Yarn, ch 3, slip stitch into first ch. Tie off and leave a tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew Body Base to bottom of Body between R24 & R25 on the inside. Make sure to stuff before closing off.
Sew arms to either side just below where Head turns into Body, still on the skin tone area. Sew sleeve piece as shown in the photo.

Sew hair cap along head. Hair line should be 2 to 3 rows above the top of the eyes. The Bang should be just above or slightly to the inside of the right eye.
To style bangs, lay bangs flat on top of the head a sew about an inch so the bangs stand up. Then tack the end curl to the hairline just past the left eye.
To sew on Ponytail, sew the last 5 stitches to R2 of the Hair cap. Make sure the ch side of the ponytail is what you are sewing down.
Sew the medallions to the edge of the sleeves. Sew the Hair Band ends together and tack to the top of the head around the ponytail.
