Materials

  • Crochet hooks – 3.5mm & 5mm
  • Yarn weight 4 (worsted). I use I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby for the cream and green and Lion Brand Heartland for the hair. You can use whatever weight 4 yarn you like best.
    • Cream (skin tone)
    • Olive Green
    • Orange
    • Black (small amount)
    • White (small amount)
  • Safety eyes, 12mm
  • Stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Pins (optional)

Pattern Notes

  • I use the *ch 2, sc in second ch from hook* method to crochet in the round. You can substitute for the magic circle, it just isn’t my preferred method.
  • This pattern is written in US terms and is intermediate skill level
  • When working with amigurumi, be sure to crochet tightly unless otherwise specified in the pattern.
  • When tying off ends, you should assume that you are leaving a long tail for sewing.
  • Have fun!

Head and Body

Using Cream Yarn and 3.5mm hook

R14 – *3 sc, inv dec* repeat x6 (24 sts)

R15 – *2 sc, inv dec* repeat x6 (18 sts)

Insert eyes between R10 and R11 about 6 stitches apart. I like to embroider the eyes before stuffing the head as well. Start with white yarn and outline the outside half of the safety eye. Then using black yarn, create a top lid on the outside quarters of the eye and add eyelashes. See Figures.

Stuff the head with medium firmness.

R16 – *sc, inv dec* repeat x6 (12 sts)

R17 – sc in front loops only in each sc (12 sts)

R18-R20 – sc in each sc (12 sts)

(This is where the legs begin) Sc until you are at the center of the back of the body. Ch 1, sc to the sc 7 sts away (center of the front of the body). You are going to be creating two legs that are 7 stitches around, 6 stitches of the original round plus the chain.

First Leg

R21-27 – sc in each sc (7 sts each round) Tie off. Sew through the front loops of the 7 stitches and pull tight to close the end of the leg.

Second Leg

Using Cream Yarn, slip stitch to the sc just left of the first leg (on the back of the doll)

R21 – sc 5, ch 1 and then sc into the same sc as the slip stitch (7 sts)

R22-27 – sc in each sc (7 sts each round) Tie off. Sew through the front loops of the 7 stitches and pull tight to close the end of the leg.

Arms (make 2)

Using Cream Yarn, ch 2, sc 5 into the second ch from the hook

R1-5 – sc in each stitch. (5 sts per round)

Tie off leaving a tail for sewing.

Sew the arms to the body between R17 and R18

Clover Dress

Heart Leaves (make 4)

Using Green Yarn, ch 3, dc 10 into the third chain from the hook.

Slip stitch to the original chain

slip stitch in next stitch, chain 2

In the next stitch dc, then 4 triple crochet.

Next stitch 2 dc.

Dc in next 2 stitches.

Next stitch dc, tc, dc

Dc in next 2 stitches

4 tc, dc

Slip stitch to first slip stitch. Tie off

Assembling Dress

Using Green Yarn, slip stitch to the dc just right of the tc point of a heart. Sc in the next 3 stitches of the heart. Sc in the same 4 stitches of the other 3 hearts so they are all linked together.

Sc into the first slip stitch. Sc into the next 15 stitches.

Ch 6, skip 6 stitches, sc 4, ch 6, skip 6 stitches, slip stitch. Tie off.

Hair

Switch to 5mm hook

Using Orange Yarn, ch 2 and sc 6 into the second ch from the hook.
